These things are great. I thought maybe they were a gimmick at first when I bought a pair many years ago, but after repeated uses and lots of abuse they have held up and are very handy for moving heavy objects. They force you to use your legs to begin the move and are a bit tricky to get the hang of, but they are very nice to use.
These were so helpful as we had to move a very large refrigerator. We did not have to go far however, so I'm not sure how it would do for any real distance.
My husband saw these when they delivered our washing machine and I was so surprised how easy it was to move a recliner! Now I want to experiment on how to lift up a person!
These things will enable you to pick up things that there would be no other way. My brother and I moved an old TV that was 5'X5' and and 3.5 ft thick and had to weigh at least 400 pounds down a winding stairs with these. We're a couple of pretty strong bastards but I don't think there would be any other way of doing if. You'd be surprised how much leverage these things give you.
I ordered these straps to assist my girlfriend and I in moving. We had literally no one else to help us move a large sectional sofa, queen-sized mattress, box spring, and other large furniture items, Using the forearm straps work best for some items, while the shoulder harness works best for others. It took some experimenting to figure out which would be best to use on what items, but we managed to move everything from apartment to moving truck and off the moving truck and into the house.
