This has been a great conversation piece in my office. A nice combination for the plant nerd and tech nerd (me). Dries out pretty quickly, but hasn’t been an issue.
I bought this as a gift and my husband loved it. I really was not hard at all to get it to float. I purchased an air fern to go with it and it looks great together.
This is the ideal setup for those who want a touch of greenery yet have minimal space in their apartment. Being really pleased with what I was seeing, I've, in fact, gotten a second one. That is not to say it's without caveats though; it is a very small and shallow pot. To me, ferns are perfect candidates for several reasons:
1) They are lightweight plants, with balanced load distribution in the form of dense foliage (c.f. orchids)
2) Their height/width relative to the pot's gives rise, automagically, to an elegant, overflowing appearance
3) A single fern does the trick, whereas a single succulent might look monotonous
Incidentally, Trader Joe's 'mini blooms' section has a varied assortment of plants that allows for a fuss-free, direct transfer into this pot!
